A Life Aligned With Mary Magdalene was a good novella. It sounds like it would be a Christian novel, but due to an f-word , I wouldn't consider it such. However, it was a very good book. In the book, Mary finds out that she is a lot like Mary Magdalene. She also has a spiritual awakening through Jesus Christ. The meeting scene was a little confusing. I didn't understand what was going on until a few pages into it. It was interesting hearing about Mary's life as a prostitute. The pimp was a bit scary at times. I felt bad for Mary, but I didn't understand how she could let him treat her the way he did. I also didn't understand why, in her next relationship, she knew the signs that her boyfriend was being abusive, but still went back to him everytime. I liked this book. The story of Mary was very inspiring to me. She had a very rough life, but she still made the best of it. I am excited to read the next book in the series when it is released. I can't wait to find out what happens between Mary and her Prince Charming.Product details

No fairytale would be considered such without a tragic storyline, moving and piercing sorrow and joy and the ability to allow its audience to empathize with the character on an intimiate level. This story is not full of big words or perfectly selected prose or veteran author touches, but instead an incredibly raw, personal and refreshingly human dose of no frills reality and honesty. The character of Mary makes no attempt to glamorize the outcomes of a life lived in such a taboo world as Mary inhabited throughout her teenage and young adult years. It seeks instead to openly make known the fight and faith someone can muster in the face of diversity and abuse. This book had me unable to put it down, and its small chapters and real relatable tone made it even more upsetting to read the final page. I look forward to more from Renee Michelle Christian, and will share this story with those I love and with those I know have struggled to find peace and acceptance. It is easy for someone to not understand why Mary would stay in a life that seemed endlessly painful and disappointing, yet those I admire and those Ive learned the most from have earned my respect from what they have overcome and continue to overcome.

"To start this book looses 1 star becuase of the way it was printed. It makes it very hard to read and looks more like a text book than a novel. This book looses another star for editing. It really needs it. This book is very raw. This book is about spiritual awakening to god. And although I am Pagan it was a very touching story. So although it had some issues this book gets 2 stars for effort. "
